How Many Pages Is Surah Baqarah? A Comprehensive Guide

Introduction:

Ever wondered how many pages Surah Baqarah occupies in your Quran? This seemingly simple question can be surprisingly complex, depending on the edition, font size, and translation you're using. This comprehensive guide dives deep into understanding the physical length of Surah Baqarah, exploring the variations and offering insights into why these differences exist. We'll break down the factors influencing page count, providing you with a clear understanding and resources to determine the page count in your specific Quran. This isn't just about numbers; we'll delve into the significance of Surah Baqarah itself, its length reflecting its profound importance within the Islamic faith.

Understanding the Variables Affecting Page Count:

Several factors significantly contribute to the varying page counts of Surah Baqarah across different Quran editions:

1. Font Size and Style: The most obvious factor is the font size. A Quran printed with a larger font will naturally occupy more pages than one with a smaller, more compact font. Similarly, different font styles (serif vs. sans-serif, for example) impact the space each word and line occupies. A wider, bolder font will require more space.

2. Page Size and Margins: The physical dimensions of the page itself influence the page count. Larger pages can accommodate more text, leading to a lower page count for the same Surah. Furthermore, the size of the margins (the blank space around the text) affects how much text fits on each page. Wider margins mean fewer words per page, increasing the overall page count.

3. Translation and Transliteration: If your Quran includes a translation and/or transliteration (romanization of Arabic script), it will inevitably take up more space, thus increasing the number of pages needed for Surah Baqarah. The style and length of the translation also play a role – some translations are more concise than others.

4. Tafsir (Commentary) Inclusion: Many Quran editions include Tafsir, which is a commentary or explanation of the verses. The inclusion and extent of Tafsir dramatically increase the overall page count. If your Quran contains extensive Tafsir, Surah Baqarah will occupy significantly more pages.

5. Edition and Publisher: Different publishers employ varying design choices, impacting the overall page count. Some prioritize a compact design, while others might opt for a larger, more spacious layout.

Estimating the Page Count:

Unfortunately, there's no single definitive answer to "How many pages is Surah Baqarah?". The page count is highly dependent on the factors listed above. However, we can provide a reasonable estimate. A standard, relatively compact Quran edition with a translation and minimal commentary might place Surah Baqarah between 60 and 80 pages. However, this is just an approximation. Larger-print editions with extensive commentary could easily exceed 100 pages.

The Significance of Surah Baqarah's Length:

The length of Surah Baqarah isn't arbitrary. Its considerable length reflects its profound importance and comprehensiveness within the Quran. It covers a vast array of topics, including:

The Fundamentals of Faith: Surah Baqarah lays down the foundations of Islamic belief, addressing the oneness of God, the prophets, and the Day of Judgment.
Laws and Regulations: It contains numerous laws and regulations concerning various aspects of Muslim life, including marriage, divorce, inheritance, and transactions.
Stories of the Prophets: The Surah recounts the stories of various prophets, drawing lessons and illustrating God's guidance throughout history.
Guidance on Moral Conduct: It provides comprehensive guidance on ethical conduct, emphasizing justice, compassion, and piety.
The Importance of Remembrance (Dhikr): Surah Baqarah emphasizes the importance of remembering Allah (God) and seeking His forgiveness and mercy.

The sheer volume of information contained within Surah Baqarah is a testament to its central role in understanding the Islamic faith. Its length reflects the depth and breadth of its message.

How to Determine the Page Count in Your Specific Quran:

The most reliable way to determine the page count of Surah Baqarah in your own Quran is simply to count the pages! Look for the chapter markers (usually numbered) and count the pages from the beginning of Surah Baqarah to its end.

how many pages is surah baqarah: Bridges Translation of the Ten Qira at of the Noble Qur an Fadel Soliman, 2020-01-31 Bridges' translation aims to help non-Arabic readers in pondering the Qur'an (tadabbor). The translators focused not only on translating what God meant to say, but also on translating how He spoke. There are three main new features in this translation that make it unique: 1. It is the first translation which includes the ten Qira'at (modes of recitation). The main text is written in accordance with the Qira'a of Asem, narrated by Hafs. Variations from that are presented in footnotes denoted by 'Q'. The translation presents around 30% of the variations of the Qira'at--those which affect the meaning. 2. It is the first translation that takes into consideration the Qur'anic phenomenon of grammatical shifts, whether in verb tenses, numbers, or pronouns. These are a great source of pondering for the reader. 3. To denote whether a pronoun like 'you' or an imperative verb like 'say' is plural, dual, or singular, the translators did not impose their understanding on the reader by adding text between brackets like (O Prophet) to denote singular form, or (O mankind) to denote plural form. Rather, this distinction was achieved by adding a superscript after pronouns and imperative verbs. For example: youpl is used for a plural pronoun, yousg for a singular pronoun, and youdl for a dual pronoun.

Surah 2 Al-Baqarah is the longest Surah in The Quran.A hadith states: Everything has a hump (or, high peak), and Al-Baqarah is the high peak of the Qur'an. Whoever recites Al-Baqarah at night in his house, Shaytan will not enter that house for three nights. Whoever recites it during the day in his house, then Shaytan will not enter that house for three days.Another hadith states: Learn Surah Al-Baqarah and Al-'Imran because they are two lights and they shade their people on the Day of Resurrection, just as two clouds, two spaces of shade or two lines of (flying) birds. The Qur'an will meet its companion in the shape of a pale-faced man on the Day of Resurrection when his grave is opened. The Qur'an will ask him: 'Do you know me?' The man will say: 'I do not know you.' The Qur'an will say: 'I am your companion, the Qur'an, which has brought you thirst during the heat and made you stay up during the night.   how many pages is surah baqarah: The Translation of Surah Al-Fatihah & Surah Al-Baqarah English Edition Muhammad Vandestra, 2018-07-25 The Translation & The Meaning of Surah Al-Fatihah & Surah Al-Baqarah from The Holy Quran In English Languange Color Version. Sūrat al-Fātiḥah (Arabic: سُورَةُ الْفَاتِحَة ) is the first chapter (surah) of the Quran. Its seven verses (ayat) are a prayer for the guidance, lordship and mercy of God. This chapter has an essential role in Islamic prayer (salāt). The primary literal meaning of the expression al-Fātiḥah is The Opener, which could refer to this Surah being the opener of the Book (Fātiḥat al-kitāb), to its being the first Surah recited in full in every prayer cycle (rakʿah), or to the manner in which it serves as an opening for many functions in everyday Islamic life. Some Muslims interpret it as a reference to an implied ability of the Surah to open a person to faith in God The name al-Fātiḥah (the Opener) is due to the subject-matter of the surah. Fātiḥah is that which opens a subject or a book or any other thing. It is also called Umm Al-Kitab (the Mother of the Book) and Umm Al-Quran (the Mother of the Quran); Sab'a al Mathani (Seven repeated [verses], an appellation taken from verse 15:87 of the Quran); Al-Hamd (praise), because a hadith narrates Prophet Muhammad SAW as having said: The prayer [al-Fātiḥah] is divided into two halves between Me and My servants. When the servant says, 'All praise is due to God', the Lord of existence, God says, 'My servant has praised Me'.; Al-Shifa' (the Cure), because a hadith narrates Muhammad as having said: The Opening of the Book is a cure for every poison., Al-Ruqyah (remedy or spiritual cure)., and al-Asas, The Foundation, referring to its serving as a foundation for the entire Quran. Sūrah al-Baqarah or The Cow is the second and longest chapter (Surah) of the Qur'an. It consists of 286 verses, 6201 words and 25500 letters (Ibn Kathir). It is a Mediniite surah, that is to say that it was revealed at Medina after the Hijrah, with the exception of a few verses.

It describes what is essential for the disciple in terms of the external acts and its inner secrets of prayer, and revealing its refined hidden meanings in terms of humility, sincerity and intention. Presented to the English speaking public is a translation of two chapters of Ghazal's great work, Ihya .ulum al-din. The chapter is entitled kitabasrar al-salah (the book of the secrets of prayer and its requirements). This translation was originally carried out by E E Caverley which I have edited in places to give the reader a clearer understanding of the text and correcting the Quranic references. I have also included in the book the prophetic narrations in the original Arabic to give the reader of Arabic a fuller flavour of the intended meaning. The two chapters selected are entitled fefadail al-salahwa al-sajudwa-aljama.hwa al-azaanwaibarihaï (virtue of the prayer, prostration, congregation, call to prayer and its precepts). And the third chapter from the book entitled fee shuruut al-batinah min a.amaal al-qalb. (Inward stipulations for the acts of the heart) The first chapter generally focuses on the pre-eminent status of prayer and its superiority over all other forms of worship in Islam. Instilling in the one who is about to initiate the prayer the enormity and seriousness of the action. The second chapter in the book focuses on the mind-set of the one who is engaged in prayer, humility being a fundamental pillar in this regard. Imam Ghazali also offers practical remedies to attain this status of humility and describes the base nature of heedlessness before one's Creator. I hope this book acts as a means of proximity since nothing can facilitate this noble goal to reach one's Lord but the Prayer. But prostate in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah) Surah Alaq.19

To begin: Every so often our daily lives preoccupy us and turn us away from Allah's promise. When we walk out of our homes, turn on the radio, TV, or Internet, we are distracted by the evils we see and hear. As result of immorality and unashamed disobedience, our hearts grow hard and distant from Allah and His Messenger's call. We know the message of Islam is true, but we are weak due to the rigidity of our heart, spirit and mind. In times like these, we need something to penetrate that stiffness. We need a remedy to soften that hardness and the inflexibility of our choices. Disunity and harshness afflicts this Ummah today. Consequently, many people have turned away from brotherhood, caring, and even Islam itself. Their hearts have transformed into dwellings of complete hatred for a sinner, disdain toward the weak Muslim, and jealousy of their successful brother or sister.I have selected some ahaadeeth from the most authentic book after the Qur'aan to soften the hearts in our chests. I used Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih Al-'Uthaymeen's explanations for the ahaadeeth selected. The ahaadeeth selected come from a book in Imam Al-Bukhari's collection titled Riqaq: Heart Softeners. This chapter brings tears to one's eyes, fear to one's mind, and most importantly it diminishes the rigidity in one's heart. I ask Allah to make the translation and compilation solely for His pleasure. I pray to Allah for acceptance of this deed and His mercy in the Hereafter.Abu Aaliyah Abdullah ibn Dwight Battle Ramadan 18th, 1433Doha, Qatar (c)
how many pages is surah baqarah: The Easy Dictionary of the Qur'an Shaikh AbdulKarim Parekh, 2016-06-07 It is a great favor of Allah that many Muslims are nowadays more inclined to read and understand the Holy Qur'an. Alhamdulillah, the number of such people is increasing. In order to encourage as well as help such readers of the Holy Qur'an, I compiled the difficult words of the Qur'an in the form of a book in Urdu, titled Aasaan Lughatul Qur'an (Easy Dictionary of Qur'an) and published it as a dictionary way back in 1952. In this dictionary, words were placed in order of their occurence in the Surahs of the Qur'an, avoiding those words which were repeated. For example, the words Alif-Laam-Meem of Surah al-Baqarah come first and those of Surah aale-Imran come next, and so on.
how many pages is surah baqarah: The FIDIC Forms of Contract Nael G. Bunni, 2013-02-05 In September 1999, FIDIC introduced its new Suite of Contracts, which included a “new” Red, Yellow, Silver and Green forms of contract. The “new” Red Book was intended to replace the 1992 fourth edition of the Red Book, with the ambition that its use would cease with time. This ambition has not materialised and is unlikely to do so in the future. Despite the importance of the 1999 Forms, there has been very little published on the new concepts adopted in them and how they interact with the previous forms. This important work considers these aspects together with the many developments affecting the fourth edition of the Red Book that have taken place since 1997, when the second edition of this book was published, and relates them to key contracting issues. It is written by a chartered engineer, conciliator and international arbitrator with wide experience in the use of the FIDIC Forms and in the various dispute resolution mechanisms specified in them. Important features of this book include: · background and concepts of the various forms of contract; · a detailed comparison of the wording of the1999 three main forms, which although similar in nature; it nevertheless significantly differs in certain areas where the three forms diverge due to their intended purpose; · analysis of the rights and obligations of the parties involved in the contract and the allocation of risks concerned; · a range of ‘decision tree’ charts, analysing the main features of the 1992 Red Book, including risks, indemnities and insurances, claims and counterclaims, variations, procedure for claims, programme and delay, suspension, payments and certificates, dispute resolution mechanisms, and dispute boards; · a much enlarged discussion of the meaning of “claim” and “dispute” and the types of claim with a discussion of the Notice provision in the 1999 forms of contract for the submittal of claims by a contractor and by an employer; · the FIDIC scheme of indemnities and insurance requirements; and the methods of dispute resolution provided by the various forms of contract; and · five new chapters in this third edition, the first four chapters deal with each of the 1999 forms and the fifth chapter is confined to the topic of Dispute Boards.

how many pages is surah baqarah: The Qurʼān Manuscripts in the Al-Haram Al-Sharif Islamic Museum, Jerusalem Khaḍir Ibrāhīm Salāmah, 2001 Of the many ways in which Muslims through the ages have sought to express their faith, none is more impressive than that of Qu'ran-ic calligraphy and illumination. The legacy of this elaborate art forms a comprehensive yet cohesive whole which has both assimilated and adapted to the cultural differences that exist over the vast distances separating the regions of the Islamic world. In this beautifully illustrated book Khader Salameh shows how the art has developed over time as he studies a selection of Qu'ran manuscripts held in the al-Haram al-Sharif Islamic Museum in the al-Aqsa Mosque, Jerusalem. These preserved copies of the Qu'ran have been donated to the Mosque during various successive Islamic periods by individual Muslims, rulers, sultans, princes, ulama and others. They differ in size, calligraphy and ornamentation - such as gold inlaying - according to the technical and material resources available. The entries are arranged chronologically and identified by the name of the donor, if known, and by a museum registration number. Salameh gives a detailed account of each manuscript, including its date, dimensions, binding, illuminated opening pages and body text. He summarizes the contents of any notations, endowment texts or colophons and identifies any Qu'ran-ic verses that feature in the illuminated panels. The book is richly illustrated with color photographs showing every decorative element worthy of study. As well as a detailed study of the selected manuscripts, the book presents a general overview of the Museum's holdings and provides a textual history of the Qu'ran. It describes the four types of script used in Qu'ran manuscripts, and also the different types of binding and illumination. Many rare pieces of note are included in the collection: the calligraphic kufic copy of the Qu'ran dating back to the third/fourth century is the earliest example of this type of calligraphy and ornamentation; and the thirty-part Maghribi Rab'ah, bequeathed by Sultan Abu al-Hasan al-Marini of Morocco in AH 750, is the only manuscript remaining from the three collections that he dispatched to the mosques of the three most holy cities of Islam (Mecca, Madina and Jerusalem). In bringing these fascinating manuscripts to the attention of the world, Khader Salameh hopes to generate concern for their preservation before the passage of time takes its toll upon them. REVIEWS 'Combining strikingly beautiful illustrations with fascinating glimpses into Islamic art, patronage, and the liturgical, social, and political uses of the Qu'ran, Salameh's book is a rewarding read.'American Journal of Islamic Social Sciences
how many pages is surah baqarah: A Thinking Person’s Guide to Islam H.R.H. Prince Ghazi Bin Muhammad, 2018 The world is at a crossroads today. A tiny minority of Muslims seems to be bent on hijacking the religion of Islam and bringing it into perpetual conflict with the rest of the world. Because of their actions, very few non-Muslims understand the real difference between Islam as it has always been, and the distorted perversions of Islam today. This book is an attempt to positively say what Islam actually is—and always was—as well as what it is not. “Lucid in its explanations, unassailable in its logic; a book of the moment; simply spot on.” – H.E. Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, The Sultan of Sokoto, Nigeria “Easy to read, easy to understand and easy to swallow and digest. It very beautifully explains what Islam really is, how it is explained in its sacred texts, and how it has been understood throughout centuries by the overwhelming majority of Muslims.” – Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani “A very much needed book, comprehensive, yet concise, easy to read, and authoritative. A must-read book.” – Shaykh Muhammad Al-Yaqoubi “A salient account of a mighty faith drawn in deft strokes by an insider. Edifying, broad, and stimulating.” – Shaykh Nuh Keller “Much anxiety comes from not properly understanding what others think or believe. One example today is the widespread misunderstanding of Islam. So when a respected scholar of Islamic philosophy such as Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad writes A Thinking Person’s Guide to Islam, it is of global significance. I welcome the publication of this book, convinced that interested readers will find much in it to inspire them and set their minds at rest.” – H.H. the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso “A most authentic presentation of Islam in its contemporary context.” – Professor M. Hashim Kamali, IAIS, Malaysia “Exceptionally lucid in explanation, deeply scholarly and yet accessible on a popular level, this is an essential book for Muslims and non-Muslims alike at this time in our civilization.” – Revd Canon Professor Paul S. Fiddes, Professor of Systematic Theology, University of Oxford “A concise, luminously clear, and highly readable explanation of Islam from the pen one of its best educated and most influential advocates.” – Professor Miroslav Volf, Yale University Divinity School
how many pages is surah baqarah: The Qur'an Muhammad Abdullah Draz, 2017-10-10 This book is unique in its approach to the Qur'an. It argues the point that only God could author such a book, and that Muhammad could have never produced anything like it. While this objective has been attempted by several Muslim scholars who highlighted one aspect or another of the topics highlighted in the Qur'an, Dr. Draz's works is perhaps the first that relies totally on the merits of the Qur'anic text for an irrefutable proof. Dr. Draz discusses the arguments made at the time of the Prophet and later on which suggested that the Qur'an was taught to Muhammad by various teachers, and shows how they all collapse at the first test. When he has irrefutably established the fact that the Qur'an could only be a divine revelation, Dr. Draz goes on to analyze the Qur'anic style, showing how it combines merits that could never be found together in any human writing. Equipped with a profound literary sense and a powerful Arabic style, Dr. Draz discusses the main characteristics of the Qur'anic style, as well as the unity of theme that runs through each chapter , or surah. The work is now presented to English readers as it gives students of the Qur'an valuable insight, enabling them to understand the Qur'an better.

how many pages is surah baqarah: Tafsīr Ibn ʻAbbās Muḥammad ibn Yaʻqūb Fīrūzābādī, 2008 A collection of the long-unavailable tafasir, or commentaries on the Qur'an, which help to properly explain and contextualize the revelation, this series aims to make leading exegetical works--in translation, unabridged, and faithful to the letter and meaning of the Arabic--widely available for study and research. One of the most pivotal works for understanding the environment that influenced the development of Qur'anic exegesis, this volume--originally written by Abdullah Ibn 'Abbas and Ibn Ya'qub al-Firuzabadi--offers valuable insight into the circulation and exchange of popular ideas between Islam, Judaism, and Christianity during the formative phase of Islamic exegesis. In addition, the work avoids elaborate theological, philosophical, and grammatical explanations, making it easily accessible to nonspecialists.
